7 Useful Ways to Get back on Track with Your Daily Routine

Getting back into an organized daily routine after a summer of fun and vacations isn’t always easy – especially with young children. You are going back to work, and the kids are going back to school – each of you has different needs and expectations for a fresh start.

Unfortunately, that’s not possible. No matter how much we would love a life-long vacation, our real lives, duties, and responsibilities are waiting for us. But before we return to our lives in full swing, we want to organize and prepare everything – from our homes to our children’s school supplies. This can be an overwhelming task, especially after a vacation. You might feel the desire to tackle it all at once and even feel the energy to do so, but then you come home and would much rather do something more fun. 1. Rehydrate and get back on track with diet

2. Organize your home

This is also a great way to do an inventory of what your kids need in terms of clothing, backpacks, school supplies, etc. Getting ready in the morning is much easier when everything in the house is organized and in order. 😊

5. Include small daily tasks for kids to prepare for school

With school around the corner, it is important to set the tone for an organized and productive start. A small task for your kids each day should do the trick to prepare them for all the upcoming homework and projects at school. Or maybe break down a bigger task into smaller tasks. That way, the kids will see that a little each day adds up to something big. The kids will be motivated and have the confidence to tackle complex tasks and projects and those that seem impossible to be done at first.

6. Set a 20-minute timer for chores

If you feel overwhelmed with all the things you need to organize and prepare for work and school, try to set a 20-minute timer for a chore/task. The task can be anything you want. Let’s say you want to organize your closet. Set the timer for 20 minutes, and once it starts, focus on the task and organize as much as you can. When the time is over, take a little break, and do the same again. You will be amazed by how much you can do in only 20 minutes when you focus on one thing at a time.

7. Ease back into a routine with realistic goals and expectations

Do not set goals that you cannot reach by your expected deadline. Start with small wins – you will feel proud of yourself and motivated to keep going. To ease back into a routine, take breaks whenever needed to recharge and relax.
