Do you want to do a long run, go on a mountain tour with your bike, or compete for two days in high temperatures?
Then you definitely need carbohydrates! Even if low carb is “trendy” right now, carbohydrates are essential for endurance sports. They must be available to provide energy and for the muscles to work. If they are not available, starvation is on its way – the performance decreases, you become weak, and some people even feel dizzy.
Rule of thumb: Eat or drink a meal rich in carbohydrates before sports, drink an isotonic beverage after one hour at the latest during sports, and do the same after sports to replenish the body’s reserves.
The German Athletics Association, DLV, is also aware of the importance of an optimal carbohydrate supply that is safe for competitive sports. That’s why it had already provided its athletes with the FitLine Fitness-Drink for the training camp ahead of the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.
DLV Director-General, Idriss Gonschinska, is convinced that the athletes will benefit from FitLine:
The athlete-optimized, isotonic carbohydrate-electrolyte solution* of the FitLine Fitness-Drink helps maintain performance during prolonged endurance training; it tastes good and is well-tolerated even at peak performance! The 3-phase concept offers optimal supply before, during, and after exercise.
