How to Stay Active During the Hot Summer Months

Let’s face it, we all love summer, but sometimes we can’t find a way to cool ourselves down. Knowing that this summer probably won’t be any different, we prepared a few tips for you that you can use to survive the hot summer days. We want you to stay active and enjoy the warm weather!

Feel Good in Your Own Skin

Being fit and in shape is not always about losing weight. Instead of focusing on a number on a scale, we recommend focusing on overall well-being and feeling good in your own skin – no matter what the scale says. Being active and staying fit is one way to make sure you take care of your body and soul.

However, working out in summer can sometimes seem like a daunting task especially when the temperature rises. That is why we prepared a few tips for you to make working out this summer a breeze.

Stay Hydrated

An important thing to keep in mind is to stay hydrated. More often than not, we underestimate the importance of drinking enough liquids on hot days. Still water and herbal teas are the best options. Avoid drinks that are too cold, soda, and anything that is not hydrating such as drinks containing caffeine or alcohol.

Find a Good Time and a Good Place for a Workout

To get started with your summer routine, think about a good time and place for your workouts. This could be either early in the morning or later in the evening. You avoid the times when it’s the hottest, for example, around noon, and if you’re going to work out in the morning, you can set the tone for a productive day ahead. After you had decided when you want to work out, find a place that is not too hot. If you have a hard time finding a good place, you can do home workouts, training in the comfort of your own four walls. In case you prefer outdoor workouts, make sure you choose a cool spot. Beaches, forests, or parks providing fresh air and a cool breeze are perfect for summer outdoor workouts.

What’s Next…

Now that you covered time and place, you’re probably wondering about a workout. Working out outside of a gym can seem to be impossible – you need weights, right? That is true to a certain extent, but as it is summer and it’s too hot anyway, you can choose a bodyweight workout that you can do almost anywhere and anytime.

Despite the widespread opinion that bodyweight exercizes don’t have much of an effect, they can be fun and challenging, too.

Your Bodyweight Workout

Today, we also prepared a few of the best bodyweight exercises. You can add them to your workout, mix them with your favorite exercises, or do them as a new workout. For the following workout, you do not need any weights or equipment. Make sure to perform each exercise properly to avoid injuries.

Perform each exercise for 30-45 seconds with 10 seconds of rest in between each exercise. Complete 3 or 4 rounds, depending on your fitness and level, and add a 1-minute rest in between rounds.
