Behind-The-Scenes: Deutschland Tour 2018

Last week, German pro cycling race Deutschland Tour made its grand comeback after a ten-year break. And it definitely turned heads! Thousands of spectators gathered along the scenic course throughout the southwest of Germany and in front of TV screens to follow the 132 pro cyclists fighting for the win.

Last Saturday, August 25, the stage 3 course from Trier to Merzig lead right past the PM-International Headquarter’s doors…well almost. Thanks to PM-International’s cooperation partner, the German Cycling Federation BDR e.V., we were able to experience stage 3 up close, right at the finish line in Merzig. For more than 20 years, the BDR has been recommending the FitLine products to their national teams and top athletes. Check out what BDR Sports Director Patrick Moster thinks about FitLine here.

After a thrilling battle all the way to the end, Slovenian Matej Mohoric claimed the victory and the overall leader’s red jersey from German Maximilian Schachmann.

After the race, we had a chat about our cooperation and all things cycling with Udo Sprenger, Vice President of the BDR. Make sure to check out the video for more behind-the-scenes footage!

On top of the podium in Merzig, Mohoric also emerged as the overall winner after an exciting final sprint at the last stage in Stuttgart the following day. With two German stage wins and German pro riders Nils Politt and Maximilian Schachmann finishing 2nd and 3rd in the general classification, the comeback of the Deutschland Tour is a success for German pro cycling too. The BDR is pleased with the new edition, and we are already looking forward to the 2019 issue.
